Article On Coeburn

Castlewood is building a solid program. TW just can't get over the postseason hump, but actually has a good program going. I think Clay is bring SP back up to par, and TS is on the rise. RC has some good young talent, as well, but I don't know if they are going to work at baseball enough to do anything with. Maybe the new field and other improvement they are trying to make will help their program out alot. Ervinton, well, I don't know what they are bringing to the plate in the coming years.

District 8 became the LPD in 1960, so they would have been a member for 47 years.

My eyes musta been playin' tricks on me! I thought it said 48.
Anyway, it would've looked more impessive if he'd said something like "After being in the same District with schools in Wise, Norton, Big Stone & Appy for over 80 years, ..."

Oh well, guess I can put that somewhere.

Soooooooo, basically Coeburn moved to the other district to be more competitive (and according to newspapers money does not have anything to do with this) but sounds like and by reading this forum the only sport Coeburn is not competitive in is football.
I guess that is the difference between the LPD and "other" districts when it comes to football. We play to win State Championships while other schools play to win their district.

It's been the better part of a decade since a current LPD team has won a title in football.

How could money have anything to do with it. As I said earier itn will actually cost us money with this move their won't be near the gate receipts as their was in the LPD the schools in the CD don't travel as well as the ones in the LPD. This was a brainfart move all the way around.

Acording to the paper they were keeping there LPD Big gate games (PV being the exception) I think that Money wise they will be OK since they will probably get more home town support if they are playing for a district championship in November rather than to stay out of the celler.

In basketball I THINK Castlewood and TS will fillup a gym better than anyone in the LPD

I THINK Coeburn will make a good showing for themselfs in most sports this season
